Learning disability definition

We are part of the Cross-Sectional Reference group of psychologists on the definition of Learning Disabilities. There have been inconsistencies in the assessment and diagnostic criteria used by psychologists in Ontario. This has led to confusions for patients, since their assessments are not universally recognized across all institutes. The working group developed a standard, step-wise process for psychological assessment, along with a set of criteria for the diagnosis of a Learning Disability that is consistent with current research. The intention of this approach is to bring consistency in the diagnostic protocols of psychology practitioners across age groups, settings, and populations, and it is designed to be inclusive of all children, adolescents, and adults, including those who are from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.

Ontario  Justice Education  Network (OJEN)

OJEN  is dedicated  to promoting understanding,  education, and dialogue to support  a responsive and inclusive justice system.  Dr. Todd Cunningham was invited to be part of  the OJEN steering committee to provide professional  guidance around how to support students with special  needs in the legal system. I am currently helping to  revise many of the protocols to better support students  with special needs.
